Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Welcome to the Land of Himalayas and capital city of Kathmandu

    As you entered the border of Nepal, you will see the beautiful views over the valley, mesmerizing view of Himalaya and terraced field below. After you get out from the custom, the representative of Oriental Journeys waits for you outside to guide you in the narrow and winding streets of Kathmandu. The representative helps you to settle in the hotel. In the evening, you can explore the tourist hub city, Thamel. This is a good enough place to have your first meal on your choice in a variety of restaurants. You can enjoy both western and Nepali dishes in Thamel. You can further explore Hinduism and Buddhism within Kathmandu valley.

  • Day 02: Explore cultural highlights of Kathmandu

    Kathmandu is culturally rich and it is more than trekking. The cultural highlights of Kathmandu are one of the important aspects of exploring both Hinduism and Buddhism. Besides this, you will further explore incredible woodcarving, painting, sculptures, heritage sites with very unique architecture and living traditions in its surrounding. You will enjoy local food of Nepal in the evening.

  • Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Bharatpur and drive to Chitwan

    The representative of Oriental Journey takes you early in the morning from your hotel and drop off you at the domestic terminal of the Tribhuvan International airport. After the 20 minutes of fly, you will reach Bharatpur. You have a private vehicle from Bharatpur to drive to Chitwan. The distance of Bharatpur and Chitwan National Park is 45 km away. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach Barahi Jungle Lodge.
    You will find different landscape and culture once you reached in the surrounding of Chitwan National Park. While entering in Chitwan, you will get plain land which is famous and known as Terai in Nepal. The people here share both Nepali and North Indian culture and even the language is found to be a mixture of both Nepali and North Indian dialects. Overnight in Chitwan.

  • Day 04: Jeep and foot safari

    You will fully enjoy the safari activities in Chitwan National Park premises. You are guaranteed to see some of the spectacular wildlife animals during the jungle safari walk. There is a high chance of seeing one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, hog deer, sambar deer, barking deer, gharial crocodiles as well as many species of birds. Sometimes with luck, you may even see a leopard, sloth bear, and Royal Bengal Tiger.

  • Day 05: Boat safari down the river

    No doubt, you will have an amazing experience each day. Today, you will take a long boat from the river’s edge and transfer to the Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge, where you stay tonight. Since the boats are low to the water, you will have a good chance to spot some of the wildlife such as gharial crocodiles, sometimes even tiger and rhinoceros at the water edges with many species of birds. After you reach at Tiger tops Tharu lodge, you can dine in the shade of Mango tree, take a refreshing dip in the poo and play a spot of tennis, sway gently in a hammock with a book. Furthermore, for the fancy activity, you can go for a bullock card ride into the Tharu village in the evening. At night you can enjoy the sounds of the forest from your window.

  • Day 06: Enjoy your day with elephants

    Today, you have full day spending with elephants. For this, you have to wake early in the morning and follow the elephants into the grasslands beside the river. The caretaker of Elephants to whom we called mahouts in Nepali cut and collects the grass for elephants for a day. At the same time, you can see the beautiful sights of the elephants grazing in the morning mist with a traditional cup of Nepali tea. If you are interested, you can involve yourself in cutting and binding the grass however, the task is harder one although it looks easier one. You will again return to the elephant camp after having breakfast where you sleep tonight. Spend the rest of the mornings with Mahouts and get information of how to take care of elephants. The lunch will be ready in the noon.
    In the afternoon, if you find the weather pleasant, go for a walk in the jungle with the elephants and mahouts. This time you have plenty of time to observe how elephants move, what they eat and also got a chance to listen to their communication: mostly rumbling and trumpeting. The naturalist will explain to you everything about its surrounding, ecosystem, grasslands, wetlands along with elephants. During the walk, you may have a chance to encounter tiger, deer, rhino and various species of birds depending on the route you take. In the evening too, you can observe all the activities taken by Mahouts with elephants.

  • Day 07: Enjoy your day with elephants

    In the morning, you will be taken to the village activity before you depart Chitwan and drive to Kathmandu. It takes 5 to 6 hours drive depending on road conditions and weather. Although the drive takes longer, it is very scenic and also interesting to see the landscape progress from flat plains to high hills and terraced farmland.

  • Day 08: Depart to your destination

    Since you have scheduled to depart from Kathmandu today, you can enjoy your last moments in Kathmandu with breakfast along with souvenir shopping. The representative will meet you again at your hotel and drop you at the airport. It’s good to be at the airport at least two hours prior to your scheduled flight.
