Bhutan Druk Path trekking is a short eleven days trek. it leads from Paro to Thimphu or vice versa, crossing the chain of mountains that separates the two beautiful valleys. Although the route is sparsely inhabited, there are wonderful lakes teeming with fish. Likewise, the area is famous for its spectacular rhododendron forests, which bloom in May. In the clear weather of late autumn and winter, there are great views of the Himalayas in Bhutan.

Our Bhutan exploration begins with a hike to Taktsang monastery ( the tiger’s nest). This helps you for acclimatization for trekking to Drugyal Dzong, Shana Shana, Soi Thangthangkha, Jangothang, Dumzo Dhumzo, Thombu Shong, Shana Zam and then back to Drugyal Dzong. Breathtaking views of towering rugged peaks like Chomolhari (7320 m), Jichu Drake (6900m) and Tshrim Khang are the major attractions of this trek. Besides this, it further offers ruined forts, pristine villages, rivers, lakes, lush forests of oak, pine, rhododendron, and spruce, and abundant wildlife with constantly changing sceneries and experiences. In addition to this, this trek provides you a special connection with nature. This 10-days tours is worth for experiencing some of the most captivating and wondrous areas of Bhutan.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival and sightseeing in Paro (2,250m/7,382ft)

    Today, we can enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks. You will be greeted by the representative of Oriental Journeys at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. After the refreshment, we will visit Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 and it houses the district Monastic body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag. Furthermore, we will also visit Kichu Lhakang, the oldest temple in the country and Drygyal Dzong which was built in 1646. o commemorate Bhutan's victory over Tibetan invaders during the 1600s. Overnight in Paro.

  • Day 02: Acclimatization hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery (3,180m)

    We start the trek after breakfast. Today, we hike at least for 4-5 hours to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) monastery. This monastery is Bhutan's most famous monastery situated at 3,180m. It is said that Guru Runpoche (spritual master) have flown on the back of tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang monastery now stands. After this, we will have lunch in the restaurant. After exploring the monastery, we hike down to the valley floor and return to Paro and spend the night.

  • Day 03: Trek begins: Paro to Jele Dzong (3,480m/11,415ft): 10 km, 4 - 5 hours

    We drive to the trekking start point to Jele Dzong. From there, we hike for an hour to the Dzong. The trail gently ascends through a forest before reaching our campsite. Just above the camp on the top of the hill is Jele Dzong. We can see the Paro Valley with snow-capped mountains as its backdrop from the top. Jele Dzong is found to be ruined but at the same time, it is interesting to see Lhakhang (Buddhist temple) with the statute of Buddha Sakyamuni. Overnight stay at camp (3,480m).

  • Day 04: Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha (3,770m/12,365ft): 10 km, 3 - 4 hours

  • Day 05: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtsho (3,880m/12,729ft): 11 km, 4 hours

  • Day 06: Jimilangtsho to Simkota (4,110m/13,480ft): 11 km, 4 hours

  • Day 07: Simkota to Phajoding to Thimphu (2,350m/7,710ft): 14 km, 5 hours: Trek Ends

  • Day 08: Thimphu to Punakha (1,250m/4,100ft): 76 km, 2 - 3 hours
