Kanchenjunga, the third mountain in the world, is situated in the eastern part of Nepal. It is found on the northern border of Nepal and Sikkim. Kanchenjunga is also called Kanchenzonga, which signifies “five treasures of snow” in Sikkimese language because it consists of five major peaks: Kanchenjunga (8586m), Yalungkang (8505), Kanchenjunga west (8420m) and the Twin peaks (both 8476m).Kanchenjunga, a colossal mountain mass has various regional peaks rising from the narrow icy ridge. The mountain was first ascended by a British Expedition in 1956 in the leadership of Charles Evans. The expedition begins from the flight to Taplejung.
