Mt. Manaslu , the tenth highest mountain in the world is located in the northern part of Nepal on the border between Gorkha and Manang districts. Literally, Manaslu is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Manasa’ which denotes for “Mountains of Spirits”. It was permitted for trekkers only after 1991 and only the limited and prearranged trekkers in group were acceptable to trek this area. The first ascent to mountain have attempted by Japanese expedition team in 1956. The peak has become interest of the Japanese and they attempted to climb up the mountain from 1952 to 1956 and it paves the way for its popularity as Japanese Mountain. Even now, this mountain is frequently climbed by the Japanese people. Still today, Manaslu area earns more popularity with its remote field and difficult rescue.
