Annapurna Circuit trek is one of the world-famous trekking trails in Nepal. This trek makes a complete circuit of the Annapurna Massif. Therefore, this trek is also known as Round Annapurna Trek. Since the trek rounds Annapurna massif, it is also famous as the Annapurna round trekking trail.  Annapurna massif distinctly extends between the Marshyangdi and Kali Gandaki rivers.  The trek progresses in Marshyangdi river valley and crosses Thorang-La pass. Thorong-La Pass is the highest pass in the region and ends in the lower Kali Gandaki Valley.

Annapurna Round Trekking is a long journey in a widely extended rain-shadow area of western Nepal. The trail surrounds the huge massif of the Annapurna mountain range.  Besides this, the spectacular trekking trail gets high praise among other trekking destinations in the Annapurna region. Likewise, the entire region gets the vote as the top ten trekking trails in the world. This region provides trekking permission to foreign tourists only in 1977. However, the formal opening of the Manang in the 1980s further paved the comfort path to trek in the Annapurna region. Since the opening of the trail, the route has been followed by many travelers.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu Tranfer to Hotel (1265m.)

    A representative from Oriental Journeys will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. Then, will transfer you to your hotel in Thame.

  • Day 02: Sightseeing Tour and Back to Hotel

    After breakfast, your guided tour start in Kathmandu valley. You will visit the several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites, you will visit the sites like Historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath).

    At noon, we get our equipment checked by our tour leader, get introduced to fellow participants, supporting staff and discuss our trip as a final preparation. Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m.) then to Ngadi

    Today, you will drive to Beshisahar from Kathmandu. Beshisahar is the final destination of first bus. The local rurul vehicle from Besishar willl take you to the village of Ngadi after 2 hours drive. Where you spend your first night of the trek. Ngadi village is close to Marysangdi River. You will enjoy the view of riverside.

  • Day 04: Trek to Ngadi to Chamje

  • Day 06: Bagarchhap - Chame (2710m)

    Today you will follow the trail through forested ridges on the way to Chame. Chame is the district headquarter of the Manang District. Throughout the trek we can admire amazing views of the Himalayas including Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m/24,688ft). On today’s trek we also come across small hot springs where we can dip in and soothe our aching muscles.

  • Day 07: Chame - Pisang(3240m)

    The trail passes through the narrow palley of Marshyangdi into a very dense forest which will bring you to the dramatic curved rock face. The rock face rises 1500m from the river's water level. The vertical rock is part looks like the the steepest part of the Marshyangdi Valley. After passing this last bit of rock, the valley opens up with majestic vistas. And right where the valley widens stands the Paungda Danda.

  • Day 08: Pisang - Manang(3540m)

    Amongtwo routes to Manang, we follow the trail via Upper Pisang and Geru. This trail section guarantees excellent views of the beautiful landscape and the mighty mountains including Annapurna and Pisang. Additionally, the contrast of the landscape and vegetation facinates your eyes. You will sart feeling the cold and dry climate with a much harsher environment. On the way, you will visit to Barga monastery which is considered the largest monastery in the entire district of Manang will be memorable for your trip.

  • Day 09: Manang (acclimatization) (3545m.)

    On the acclimatization day in Manang you will have time to explore Old Manang village and monestry. You might go up to Chonkor View point (3800m.) and explore the village of about flat-roofed houses which are surrounded by magnificent scenery - Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Gangapurna to the South, Tilicho to the West - Chulu West and Chulu East to the North.

  • Day 10: Manang - Yak Kharka (4120m)

    While continueing your trek, you will leave tree line behind. The alpine vegetation and highland meadows with horses and yaks grazing will welcome you. Yak Kharka is the perfect place to spend the night with its rolling pastures and steep cliffs. However, you can also choose to walk an hour more to Letdar and spend the night there.

  • Day 11: Yak Kharka - Thorong Phedi (4,560m)

    You will be folling the Jarang River to reach Thorong Phedi, a meadow surrounded by vertical cliffs. Spend your night there.

  • Day 12: Thorong Phedi - Thorong La (5,416m) - Muktinath(3,802m)

    Today, you will set a milestone in your history of journeys by crossing the highest navigable mountain pass in the world, Thorang-La. The only thing you should be careful is about the altitude and strong winds. The route has been used by trans himalayan trader for centuries.
    It takes 6 -7 hrs to to cross Thorang-La and reach Muktinath enjoying beautiful vistas of of Annapurna, Gangapurna and other mountains. The beautiful distant view of Mt Dhaulagiri up close while descending will be really amusing..The trail becomes less steep as it enters grassy fields and meadows to finally reach Muktinath, one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus that is also known for its 108 stone taps to take a sacred bath.

  • Day 13: Muktinath - Jomsom(2,750m) via Kagbeni

    Kagbeni Lunch camp together with monestry visit and Old Cave visit
    The trail has been developed to a motorable road. You can trek past meadows, streams and apple orchards to reach Kagbeni.
    You can visit old monastries and observe the most ancient remains of cave civilization on the steep hills at the other side of Kaligandaki river.
    Reach Jomson, located at the bank of tKali Gandaki Valley, and spend your night there.

  • Day 14: Jomsom - Tatopani (1,190m)

    The road to Tatopani is motorable one. You will drive for 5 hours (shared service) from Jomsom to reach Tatopani. On the way, you will observe the beautiful village of Marpha and its apple orchard, Tukuche and other Thakali settlements. The main attraction of Tatopani is its hot springs. Take a dip in one of them in the evening to get relaxed from your hectic trek and tiredness.

  • Day 15: Tatopani - Ghorepani (2,750m)

    You will have to ascend walking through the villages and farmlands to reach Ghorepani. Overnight stay at Ghorepani to make an early start to Poon Hill the next morning.

  • Day 16: Poonhill - Nayapul - Pokhara

    Early morning you will climb to the top of Poon Hill. The most popular view point of the region offers one of the best sunrise views. You will see mountains glistening in the first rays of the morning sun. Poon Hill is a photographer’s paradise, it offers a chance to take breathtaking, memorable pictures.

    You will spend almost an hour on the top of the hill before descending to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast, you will be descending for 5 hours to reach Nayapul. A short drive from Nayapul will take you to Pokhara.

  • Day 17: Pokhara - Kathmandu

    After taking breakfast, you will drive to travel back to Kathmandu. After 6 to 7 hours long drive you will reach Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.

  • Day 18: Final Departure

    This is the time to farewell you till your next visit to Nepal. A representative from Oriental Journeys will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport. Then you will be departing to your next destination.
