The name Ganesh Himal came in honor of god Shiva and goddess Parvati’s son. It situates in central Nepal northwest of Kathmandu. The mountain range spreads between Langtang National Park and Manaslu Conservation Area. It manifolds ethnic groups like Tamang, Gurung, and Ghale in the north, and Brahmin, Chhetri, Dalit, Newar, and Chepang. Diverse ethnicity makes the region a more interesting place to visit. Visitors can have a piece of depth knowledge about the amalgamated lifestyle and culture of Nepali people.
One of the main factors that make Ganesh Himal Trek more fascinating is its wide coverage. So, trekkers require good physical fitness and previous trekking experience. Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Oriental Journeys representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. We will welcome you with welcome dinner with cultural program in the evening. We will further make you introduce with trekking guide and detail trip plan will be discussed.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley
An experienced city guide will take you to the world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley including swayambhunath, Pashupatinath ad Kathmandu durbar Square. All these sites are listed in world Heritage sites. In the evening, we can go around Thamel for trek preparation and shopping.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Betrawati (850m)
We will drive from Machhapokhari to Betrawati today and it’s short driving. We will be staying in Betrawati, a big town on the Pasang Lhamu Highway. After a short walk, we will reached at Sole and overnight stay at our campsite. In the evening, we will explore the local area, terraced farms around the city.
Day 04: Trek from Betrawati to Kispang (1600m)
Today, we will start our trekking in the early morning. We will be staying at Kispang which is situated at 1600m from the sea level. It takes 5 hours to reach to Kispang. We will gradually going up during the trek through the villages where majority of the people are busy in farms. Overnight stay at campsite and enjoy.
Day 05: Trek to Thulo Chaur (2200m)
Today, we start the trekking towards Thulo chaur. The trail passes through the settlement of Tamang people. After 5 hours of trekking, we reach at Thulo chaur. Overnight stay at Camp.
Day 06: Trek to Gonga (2900m)
The trek continues through a dense forest with pine vegetation. When we are going to high, we have a steep climb with few descents in between. During the trek, we can encounter with wild animals such as wild pigs, small deers and different species of monkeys. We can further see the Ganesh Himal from the trail. Overnight stay at Gonga.
Day 07: Trek to Rupchet (3635m)
We will be trekking to higher altitude which is more enjoyable than walking in lower altitudes. We will pass the through the forest of Rhododendron and pine trees before reaching to Rupchet. We can consult with the trekking guide about the high altitude caring. Overnight stay at Rupchet.
Day 08: Trek to Kharka (2500m) via Shing La Pass (4100m)
Today is the most exciting day of the trip. We will be in the top of Shing La Pass after walking 7 hours. We start trekking early and walk towards kharka. The trekking is not easier and once you reach at the top, you will get the best view of the Majestic mountains of the Himalayas including Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Lirung and Manaslu. Then we will trek don to Kharka after you cross the pass.
Day 09: Trek to Borang (1800m)
We start trekking early in the morning and heading towards Borang. Today, we will go down in terms of altitude. The journey takes you from silent forests to small villages. After walking for 6 hours, we will get Tamangs of Borang. Overnight stay at camp in Borang.
Day 10: Trek to Jharlang (1700m)
After having breakfast, we will be heading towards Jharlang. Today, we walked most of the day through terraced farms and people working in the farm. We will walk to both ascending and descending trails for 6 hours and reach to the beautiful village of Jharlang.
Day 11: Trek to Kintang Phedi (1200m)
We start our trekking early in the morning from Borlang to Kintang Phedi. We will trek through small streams, terraced fields and some small settlements with people of different cultures and religion. Since we trekking to downhill, we could not see mountain view. Overnight stay at Kintang Phedi.
Day 12: Trek to Khahare (1000m)
We will start our trekking along a river for couple of hours in the uphill trekking where we can explore the local villages and surrounding in Khahare. Overnight stay in the camp in Khahare.
Day 13: Trek to Dhading Besi ( 700m) and drive to Kathmandu
We will be taking transportation from Khahare to Dhading besi and drive back to Kathmandu. In the evening, we will explore Thamel to remove our tiredness of the trek. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
Day 14: Free day in Kathmandu
Today, you will have plenty of time to explore Kathmandu valley and also have free time for shopping.
Day 15: Final Departure
Today is the last day of your trip to Kathmandu. We will transfer you at the airport 3 hours earlier than your scheduled flight.
